The years spent at kinder are profoundly important to a child’s development. Sunnyside Kindergarten, located in the inner-south east Melbourne suburb of Malvern East, has been nurturing children to grow and develop for over 70 years.
We’re deeply connected to the local community, and through our Reggio Emilia-inspired approach we enable children to grow through being inquisitive and expressive. We offer sessional kindergarten for 3-5 year olds and we welcome you to explore how we can nurture your little one through these important formative years.
Since 2013, Sunnyside Kindergarten has been rated as Exceeding the National Quality Standards, the highest possible ranking available at the time of assessment.
As your child enters our kindergarten for the first time, we will support them to build their confidence and encourage them to be inquisitive learners. Our 3 year-old program introduces children to a play-based curriculum which encourages them to build their own sense of identity. As they participate in the program they develop new interests, self-help skills and explore their understanding of the world.
Programs are run in two groups, two days per week. Please refer to our timetable for group session times.
Our 4 year-old kinder program continues your child’s development through experiencing a play-based curriculum that supports them to develop a strong sense of identity, to be connected with and contribute to their world, to be confident and involved learners and to be effective communicators. We are proud to also include unique learning experiences such as our Japanese language programme. The children start to become active members of the wider community by venturing out into the neighbourhood and enjoying excursions to places of interest such as the beach.

Terms typically run for 8 - 10 weeks, with a two-week break in-between. Check here for the latest term dates.
